I feel like they have a focus group of kids or old people somewhere, and they show them something, and then these people, without having any experience or respect for what the ripple effect such a change will have, just say "awwww, that looks cool" and go for it. ![]() Maybe now that Balmer is out, someone at MS can get a clue that simply re-arranging things (like no Start Menu, the Office ribbon?) or re-naming things (like Control Panel > "Add/remove programs" to "Programs and features"?) is just not the way to get people to adopt it. I saw a preview of Windows 8.1 and the "start menu" still looked like the tiles screen, just with smaller squares - this does not excite me and I will probably just keep using ClassicShell. ![]() ![]() Metro = tiles at the beginning, yes, although I think I read somewhere that MS doesn't like it to be referred to as "metro" anymore.ĬlassicShell Opens a new window brings back the regular start button and start menu, and can disable the tiles screen that comes up after login. ![]()
